Warranty Basics

How warranty works on pro scooters, parts and accessories.

A manufacturer's warranty covers faults in materials or workmanship — in other words, how the product was made. Think a weld that cracks under normal riding, a wheel that de-hubs, or a clamp body that splits.

It doesn't cover what the product hits. Pro scooters are built tough, but bails, impacts, casing a set or landing flat are part of riding — not manufacturing defects.

Across every brand we stock, warranty generally does not cover:

  • Normal wear and tear — scratches, scuffs, chips, flat spots and chunking
  • Damage from crashes, bails, impacts or poor landings
  • Misuse, abuse, neglect or wilful damage
  • Incorrect installation, over-tightening or using the wrong tools
  • Modifications — drilling, grinding, re-welding, painting or cutting (other than by our workshop)
  • Self-repairs carried out before a claim is assessed
  • Water damage, sun damage or improper storage

These are consumable parts — they wear out with riding, so they aren't covered by warranty. This includes grips, griptape, bearings, bar ends, brakes, pegs, bolts and axles.

If a consumable arrives faulty or defective, let us know straight away and we'll sort it.

It depends on the brand and the part — anywhere from 30 days to 2 years. Check the Brand Warranties tab for your brand's exact terms. For brands not listed there, these are the typical periods:

Part Typical period Usually covers
Complete scooters 3–12 months Hardware failure (excludes wear and tear)
Aluminium bars 30 days Weld cracking, paint defects out of the box
Chromoly bars 90 days Bending or breaking from a defect
Clamps 90 days Clamp body or bolt breaking
Decks 6 months Headtube snapping, paint defects out of the box
Forks 90 days Breaking or bending (not axles)
Wheels 90 days De-hubbing, bearing housing issues

All periods run from the date of purchase.

Usually not. Bending is almost always caused by impact — a bail, a flat landing or a crash. Brands generally only cover bending where it's clearly caused by a manufacturing defect, and every claim is assessed on photos (and sometimes the part itself).

On SV Ti Bars and the SV Sync Fork, bending isn't covered at all — a bend comes from landings and impacts, not from how the part was made.

Not sure? Send us photos anyway — we're always happy to take a look.

Modifications like drilling, grinding, painting or self-cutting will void warranty on that part with every brand we stock.

Bars cut to height by our Brisbane workshop as part of your order stay covered under the brand's normal terms.

Yes — every brand requires dated proof of purchase. Your Scooter Village order number or confirmation email is perfect, and a bank or card statement showing the purchase also works.

Warranty applies to the original purchaser only. If you bought it second-hand, the warranty doesn't transfer.

Open your order as soon as it arrives. If anything is damaged or missing, email sales@scootervillage.com.au as soon as possible — ideally within 2 business days of delivery — with your order number and clear photos of the damage and packaging.

Please don't send anything back or attempt assembly until we've replied. We'll replace the damaged or missing parts, or arrange a return at no cost to you.

Manufacturer warranties are in addition to your rights under the Australian Consumer Law — they never replace them.

Our goods come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. You are entitled to a replacement or refund for a major failure and compensation for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage. You are also entitled to have the goods repaired or replaced if the goods fail to be of acceptable quality and the failure does not amount to a major failure.

All other Scooter Village branded products are covered for 30 days against defects in materials and workmanship. SV consumables (such as grips, griptape and hardware) are covered if they arrive faulty or defective.

1. Coverage. Scooter Village warrants SV branded products against defects in materials and workmanship for 30 days from the date of purchase, when used for normal riding and installed correctly.

2. Who's covered. This warranty applies to the original purchaser with proof of purchase from Scooter Village or an authorised SV stockist. It isn't transferable.

3. Exclusions. The warranty doesn't cover normal wear and tear; bending of bars or forks, which is caused by landings and impacts rather than manufacturing; damage from crashes, bails, impacts or landings; misuse, abuse or neglect; incorrect installation or over-tightening; modifications not carried out by our workshop; self-repairs made before a claim is assessed; or consumable parts unless faulty on arrival.

4. Making a claim. Email sales@scootervillage.com.au within the warranty period with your order number, a description of the issue, and clear photos of the affected part and the complete scooter. Please don't send anything back until we've replied.

5. Assessment. Our team assesses every claim on the photos and information supplied, and may ask for the part to be returned for inspection.

6. Outcome. If your claim is approved, we'll repair or replace the part. If the same part is no longer available, we'll offer an equivalent product or a refund.

7. Costs. If we need the part returned, we'll provide a prepaid return label. For approved claims, we cover the cost of sending the repaired or replacement part back to you.

You'll need the damaged item, dated proof of purchase, clear photos and where it was bought. Don't send anything to TGE until your claim is approved by email — remove bearings before returning wheels. Questions: warranty@tgedistribution.com.

Forks 3 months Tube deformation; cracks on the lower part; compression cap thread defects
Bars 3 months Cracks at the slot; bar breaking; deformation severe enough to stop use
Decks 1 month (deck bowing) / 3 months (cracks or breakage) Cracks on the forged or welded front section; on unforged decks (e.g. Erawan, Artefact), the weld joining the neck to the headtube
Complete scooters Per part, as above Each component carries its own period — only the affected part is replaced

Not covered:

  • Clamps, headsets, pegs, bearings, griptape, grips, brakes, axles and tools — Ethic treats these as limited-life parts with no warranty after first use
  • Cosmetic defects — paint, decals and anodising
  • Superficial wear to wheel urethane that doesn't affect rolling
  • Broken fork compression caps (available as spare parts)
  • Cracks on the upper part of bars — the bar must be twisted or broken to qualify
  • Minor stress cracks on the deck outside the covered area — only covered once the deck is broken and unrideable

A bowed deck usually means it's undersized for the rider rather than a defect — Ethic recommends stepping up to a stronger model. If a part isn't in stock, Ethic will supply an equivalent part or give a restock date.

Ethic claims are handled by our team — email us with your order number and photos.

How to Claim

Four steps to get your warranty claim moving quickly.

  1. Check who handles your brand

Some brands handle claims directly; others come through us. Find your brand in the Brand Warranties tab and look for the "Lodge with" badge.

  2. Gather your details

Have these ready before you lodge:

    • Your order number or proof of purchase
    • A clear photo of the damaged part, plus one of the complete scooter
    • For decks, photos of the front, top, bottom and side
    • A short description of the issue and when it happened (a video helps for noises or play)
    • Your full name, address and mobile number
  3. Lodge your claim

Use the brand's warranty form, or email sales@scootervillage.com.au with the subject "Warranty Claim – [order number]".

  4. Hold tight — don't repair or return yet

Please don't repair, modify or send anything back until the claim has been assessed. If the part is needed for inspection, you'll be given return instructions. Approved claims are repaired or replaced as per the brand's terms.

For claims lodged with us, we aim to reply within 1–2 business days. Some claims need the brand or distributor to review photos or inspect the part, which can add time. Claims lodged directly with a brand follow that brand's timeframes.

We'll explain why, and help you find the right replacement part to get you rolling again. Your rights under the Australian Consumer Law always still apply.

Quick warranty facts

  1. Keep your order number — proof of purchase is required for every claim.
  2. A photo of the damaged part and one of the complete scooter speeds things up.
  3. Don't repair, modify or send parts back until your claim is assessed.
  4. Grips, griptape and bearings are consumables — covered only if faulty on arrival.
